NADIA BARTEL AND SISTER MICHELLE RING OPEN UP ABOUT THEIR BREAST CANCER SCARES AND STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF CHECK-UPS: 'WE'VE HAD A BIT OF A JOURNEY'
Nadia Bartel has opened up about her breast cancer scare when she was 18 years old.
In a video posted to Instagram, the former WAG, 39, and her sister Michelle Ring both revealed they had lumps removed from their chest.
The pair were raising awareness for breast cancer with a limited edition pink hair straightener when they made the revelation.
Bartel said the lumps were benign, however, the experience was still 'scary' knowing the history of breast cancer in the family.
'We've had a bit of a journey having lumps removed from both of our chests,' Nadia said.
'We're really lucky they were both benign, but it was a little bit scary in those moments where we didn't know what was happening,' she added.
The fashion designer stressed the importance of check ups.
'I know that when we found the lump in my chest, it was many years ago I think I was about 18, and that's probably why you are checking more frequently because we do have a bit of history in our family so we're very diligent with checking.'
Michelle also got candid about her more recent journey.
'It's kind of that scary moment where you don't really want to get checked but you do want to get checked,' Ring said.
'I was very lucky that I did. It was a benign tumor in the end but a very fast growing tumor. It was only a few years ago... it was amazing that I got myself checked and got it removed,' she continued.
Nadia has a close relationship with Michelle, with whom she runs the Melbourne-based fashion label Henne.
The influencer has often joked about the sisters' 'twinning' sense of style.
Nadia was married to AFL star Jimmy. The Bartels tied the knot in 2014, after meeting at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2008 and getting engaged in 2012.
The AFL glamour couple announced their separation in August 2019.
Their divorce was finalised in August of 2021.
