Factors that increase the risk for developing liver cancer are: chronic infection with hepatitis C and hepatitis B; cirrhosis; certain inherited liver diseases; diabetes; non-alcoholic fatty liver disease; obesity exposure to aflatoxins that are substances are produced by a fungus that contaminates peanuts, wheat, soybeans, corn and rice; smoking; and excessive alcohol consumption.
Liver cancer can cause various complications like cachexia, loss of appetite, bleeding from the esophagus, etc. It can also lead to malnutrition. It can lead to ascites and whole-body oedema. It ultimately leads to the death of the patient.
Death occurs from cachexia, variceal bleeding. Tumor rupture and bleed into peritoneum. There will be extreme weight loss. Abdominal pain and bloating when fluids accumulate in the abdomen.
